Unibet World Grand Prix Darts – Semi Final Previews

Peter Wright
THE Unibet World Grand Prix will be held from September 30-October 6 at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin, live on Fox Sports. The tournament features the unique double-start format, which sees players needing to both begin and end each leg with a double.

The Unibet World Grand Prix in Dublin is getting down to the serious end of the tournament as we head into the semi-finals which start at 4 am on Saturday the 6th of October.

The semifinals are best of seven and the matchups are mouthwatering.

Semi-Final One:

Mensur Suljovic

Sees Peter “Snakebite” Wright take on Mensur Suljovic in the first of the best of 7.

Both Wright and Suljovic got to the Quater finals comfortable and then the fight began.

Mensur played Gerwyn Price (3-2) he powered the first couple of sets and then lost all rhythm that let Price back into the match but it was Mensur high triple outs that won the match for him.

Peter Wright also had a Quater Final scare (3-2) against James Wilson, this was not going to be easy as Wilson had knocked off earlier in the tournament Simon Whitlock (2-1) and Adrian Lewis (2-1).  The match ended with the more consistent Peter Wright being the victor.

This Semi I feel will be taken out by Peter Wright.

Semi-Final Two:

Michael van Gerwen

Daryl Gurney

This to me is the tougher of the semifinals with Daryl Gurney taking on world number 1 Michael van Gerwen.

In their quarterfinals, both players had easier roads to victory. Daryl Gurney beat the inform Gary Anderson 3-0 in a comprehensive win, whilst Michael van Gerwen had a minor hick up beating Dave Chisnall 3-1 in the final of the quarter-final matches.

This match will come down to Gurney keeping his nerve against the world Number 1 if he does and puts on a show like he did against Anderson there could be a big upset.

Gurney is believing in his ability and I think the upset is on the cards the victor for me is Daryl Gurney.

You can watch the Semi-Finals live on Fox Sports or Sky Sports
